Speaker’s Ball for the 90th Arkansas General Assembly | Little Rock, Arkansas

Last week, we had the extreme honor and privilege of photographing the Speaker’s Ball for the 90th Arkansas General Assembly.  It’s a ball hosted by the current Speaker of the House, Jeremy Gillam, and his wife Carissa.

Carissa led a team of talented folks who spent a tremendous amount of time pulling together thoughtful details to set the tone for a beautifully executed evening.  Because Speaker and Mrs. Gillam are avid movie watchers, they chose an Oscar-like theme for the evening.  Guests arrived to a red carpet, staff were given awards patterned after the golden statues given at the Oscars and the band played favorites from iconic movies.  The movie theme carried over into a silent auction where donated memorabilia was auctioned off.  The proceeds went to the Judsonia Children’s Home, an extension of Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes.  Friends of Speaker Gillam “roasted and toasted” him.  We can say, from first-hand experience now, that our legislators are a fun-loving and entertaining bunch.  The evening was topped off with them cutting loose on the dance floor.

Mr. and Mrs. Speaker of the House, thank you so much for inviting us to work at the ball.  We loved having an excuse to dress up and were honored to meet so many of our state’s leaders.  It was such a fun evening!
