Nautical Styled Bridal Session | Kim Boyd, Wedding Photographer

To say that we’re excited to share this session is a huge understatement!  A couple of months ago, Kim said she was in the mood to do something “just for fun.”  We LOVE being a part of folks’ wedding days and love that each engagement session, bridal session and wedding day is unique to each couple.  The details reflect their interests and ways they enjoy spending their time.  The individuality of each day is what makes each wedding we are a part of so special and exciting.  But, this session allowed Kim to dictate all the details and the direction for the shoot.  I asked her, “If you could do any session, what would it look like?”  Her eyes got as big as half dollars and she said, “I want to do a bridal on a sailboat!”  So, I set out to try and make that happen.

If you’ve not been a part of the boating community, I’m here to tell you… those boating folks are some of the kindest and most gracious people I’ve met.  I emailed a couple of groups and asked if they’d entertain the notion of taking two giggly women and a bride out on a boat and you wouldn’t believe how many folks said, “Sounds fun!”

We set a date with a boat owner, found us a willing model and started gathering our favorite vendors.  When the boat owner’s health didn’t allow her to come at the last minute, we made the best of it and photographed at the marina instead, again where the folks were gracious and kind.  Kim giggled, squealed and bounced all day.  She was able to plan the shoot around pushing her creative boundaries and it was such a treat to watch her have such fun!  I think these images are some of her very best and I love that I got to be a part of it.

Kristen, thank you for being a fabulous and easy going model!  You made an already fun day that much more amazing with your up-for-anything personality.

And to all the vendors whose talents made us look good, thank you is not enough!  We LOVE working with you all!  We’re already looking forward to the next fun shoot!  :)

~Kristen
